Forged in the Real West

At Flint & Steel Strategic, we know that effective policy isn't designed in a vacuum—and it certainly isn’t built in an urban cubicle. It must be rooted in technical reality, driven by strict fiduciary accountability, and guided by the independent operators who actually work the soil and run the infrastructure.

We built this firm to serve as the ultimate defensive line and strategic bridge between the working communities of the True Northwest and the halls of county, state, and federal government.

25 Years of Ground-Level Grit Our approach is built on two and a half decades of unique, cross-disciplinary experience. We combine a decade of elite legislative strategy in the U.S. Senate with 15 years of "boots on the ground" experience as a highly skilled tradesman in heavy facilities management, HVAC, and boiler engineering.

We look at government the same way a master technician looks at a complex mechanical system: You have to understand how the physical infrastructure works before you can fix it—or fight for it. A farm bill, a county budget, or a local water district doesn’t care about political talking points or partisan rhetoric. It only cares if the math works and the system functions. We cut through the political noise to focus exclusively on raw, spreadsheet-driven solutions that preserve local home rule, secure physical assets, and protect the rural economy.

Deep Roots in the True Northwest With six generations of family heritage and over 40 years of active participation across our rural counties, this fight is personal. From the dairy traditions of Tillamook to our family farm in North Plains, we understand the exact grit, discipline, and margins it takes to manage rural spaces. That deep, multi-generational connection is why we fiercely champion youth leadership traditions like 4-H and FFA. We know firsthand that these programs build the problem-solvers, the independent producers, and the rural stewards of tomorrow.

Whether we are advising a rural county commission, analyzing complex regional infrastructure budgets, or providing precise, tactical lobbying for agricultural boards and right-leaning political candidates across the West, Flint & Steel Strategic stands for one thing:

Defending the real economy. Ground-level grit. High-level strategy.
